I am a devout believer in not making resolutions. The holidays usually are stressful for me and not something I enjoy. However, this year, for some unknown reason, I got the idea to make a pair of socks each month, using only wool from my stash.
It was Christmas Day, and for the first time ever, I wasn't cooking. My son and his wife hosted Christmas Day dinner and my husband Steve, my Mother Mary and I were there as guests. I was kitchnering the toe on the second sock of a pair that I made form On Your Toes bamboo that I had purchased while on vaction last June in Sedona. My daughter in law's family seemed suitably impressed (they are knitters too, but not socks), so I immediately started on another pair uusing Red Heart heart and sole in Toasted Almond. Now, I never thought I would willingly buy Red Heart, but I have to say, I really like using the yarn. The colors are beautiful. I finished these socks on 12/30/09 and wore them to work 12/31/09. I just couldn't stop looking at my feet all day.
Thus, the idea for a pair of socks each month was born. I am now happily on my next pair using ty dye yarn that my good friend Greta gave me for Christmas. And by the way, Christmas dinner was excellent. My son's first attempt at roasting a turkey was wonderful. It was moist and delicious. Needless to say, I am happily relinquishing Christmas to my son Stevie, his wife Amy Lyn and my beautiful grand daughter Lily Rose. And I won't even feel guilty about it.
